90 percent of everything : Usability Blog

Who actually reads 90percentofeverything.com?

June 9th, 2010 by 35 comments

I sometimes wonder who’s out there reading this blog. I’m getting to know a few of you in the comments and email exchanges but the vast majority of you are silent lurkers who I only know are out there via analytics, backtweets, and my Feedburner subscriber count.

In the interests of getting to know my readers a bit, why not add me as a friend on Linkedin?

Consider it done. I also think we may have had a couple of quick exchanges at dConstruct over the past couple of years — I’ve attended the last three.

I mostly enjoy your shared items in Google Reader though. Always good stuff :-)

Hey Harry – I read your blog via a feed on iGoogle. Can’t friend you on LinkedIn as I don’t see the need for an account, but I’m here and reading. Will endeavour to comment again.

I have read some posts through twitter and now from iGoogle.

    Regards.

    I read about 80 percent of 90percentofeverything. ;)

Mostly, I’m a lurking UX Designer in Canada reading through RSS.

A lurker reporting in – I’m usually reading the articles via Google Reader, but don’t usually have enough time to actually comment on anything.

  9. Ryan Miller

Web UX Designer, currently living in Kansas City. Lurker extraordinaire. Follow via Netvibes, with design view (rather than feed view).

    Hi!

    Hi there,

I’m from New Zealand, working on IntuitionHQ.com (a usability testing service) – I’m very interested in usability testing, and user experience design. I’ve recently begun doing a little writing on these topics as well; one article was recently featured on UXBooth.com, and there will be a few more going up around the place in the coming months.

It’s always interesting following your posts, and I stumbled across the site through alltop.com and their user-interface section.

I do have linkedin (not that I use it much!) and I’ve just added you now.

Cheers, and keep up the good work.

I’m a developer in Silicon Valley. I have a background in HCI and an interest in all sorts of design-related fields.

I follow you (and a bunch of other folks) on Google Reader. And generally lurk ;-)

  14. Jacob Kullgren

I’m definitely one of the lurkers, mostly because this isn’t really my area of expertise; I’m a safety engineer at a big energy company working within Human Factor Engineering.

Since Usability and GUI makes a big difference here as well I try to keep up to date what’s happening, thanks for sharing!

  15. Demetrius Conde

I tried to add you. I chose the only correct option “I don’t know Harry”, pressed “send invitation” and… sure, it told me that they value our privacy and suggested to return to the profile OR cancel. Holy cow! ]:->

    Hi,

I guess I’m a lurker; I don’t tend to do much commenting, because I never feel like I have enough info. on hand to reply cogently.

I do the linkedin thing, so I’ll add :) I’m currently a front-end / backend developer, mostly working with python/django, but plenty of experience with design and company go-to man for usability issues. I do some mac os x development on the side as well. I’m always looking to learn more, and read influential posts here and there, and that’s how I came along. HCI grad. degree in my plan sometime soon. Keep it up!

another lurker here, i’m a freelance technical creative director, and tend to read via google reader rather than the website, so don’t generally comment so much.

  24. Sara

Another lurker that you’ve managed to pull out of the shadows. I guess this is my chance to say thank you for the site! I’m currently a user experience specialist in Tennessee and I just finished up with my masters degree in HCI. I’m a RSS follower and find your articles a great way to keep up with what’s going on in the field.

  25. Michael Kozakewich

I think there’s a threshold where you get a certain number of commenters and more people just give up on comments.

As for me; I just never feel I can contribute anything.

  26. Gerred

    I’m always watching you, Brignull.

  27. Harry Brignull

I really must get some new curtains!

Hey, I’m a Canadian PhD student in HCI. Keep it up. You make delicious food for thought.

I tried to avoid social networks whenever possible, because they usually seem like a time suck.
